Artist in Residence Program
Submission deadline: May 31, 2010
Harcourt House Arts Centre is currently accepting submissions for our 2010/2011 Artist in Residence. The one-year residency, commencing in November 1, 2010, includes a studio space, access to our art education courses and facilities, and a $150 monthly art supply stipend. The artist will also have the opportunity to exhibit work completed during the residency in the Main Gallery. This opportunity pays CAR/FAC fees.
We invite artists who are Canadian residents to submit a proposal before May 31, 2010. Applicants will be selected by the quality of work submitted, their demonstration of commitment to serious practice and how the residency will meet their objectives at this crucial juncture in the development of their practice.
Proposals must include all of the following:
- C.V.
- Artist's statement
- Plan of activity as Artist in Residence
- 10 – 15 good quality digital images of recent work *refer to digital images link for guidelines*
- Slide list including: title, dimensions, medium, and date
NOTE: Curriculum vitae (C.V.), artist statement, plan of activity and slide list must be submitted in hard copy AND digitally as a writable Word or Open Office document. Files must be Mac compatible. NO PDF’s.
- Include 2 letters of reference from professionals in the arts community
- Artists should have demonstrated at least 3 years commitment to studio work
- There will be an interview process for short listed candidates
*Incomplete proposal packages will NOT be considered*

The program's goals are to provide emerging artists with a stable studio environment to continue developing their practice. This program allows for the Artist in Residence to engage and interact with the local visual arts community, encouraging shared ideas, expression and discourse.
This program provides innovative, interactive opportunities for artists and other members of the vibrant visual arts community in Edmonton. Please contact the gallery with your ideas and interest.
Applicants will be selected by the quality of work submitted, their demonstration of commitment to serious practice and evidence that they are at a crucial juncture in the development of their practice.
