Hammering a Nail Through a Flower The artwork is produced instinctually....it is a collaborative process between the subconscious and conscious minds, and aims to energize the walls of the gallery with electrically charged aesthetic chaos. Important sources are the abstract expressionist artists of the New York school as well as the artwork produced by young children. - Tim Rechner Local artist Tim Rechner presents his latest body of work created during his term as Artist in Residence at Harcourt House Arts Centre. Rechner is a prolific artist who maintains a strong interest in the abstract expressionists from the New York School, children’s drawings, graffiti and gestured mark making. Looking to these sources for inspiration he uses them to build upon his own visual language. Rechner describes his mixed media paintings as a collaboration between the conscious and subconscious. Although much of his process is driven by impulse and instinct, he consciously analyzes the spontaneous marks to help resolve and determine the future of each piece. Rechner’s large drawings and paintings visually echo the raw chaotic disorder of his process and aim to “energize” the walls of the gallery. |
