Softly, Softly: Images of Femininity Andrea Magnuson is a mixed media artist whose work comments on perceived notions of femininity through the use of found objects and collage. Soft colors, textured fabric, sewing patterns, domestic items, and a twist of pulp fiction imagery are used to deconstruct the myth of femininity. The majority of the materials used in the assembly of her work are discarded items found on the street and in thrift stores. Magnuson received her B.A. in Women & Gender Studies from the University of Saskatchewan in 2007. She currently resides in Vancouver, BC with her husband, and two elderly cats. |
