Edmund Haakonson

Edmund Haakonson is a respected painter and sculptor who is focused on the human form as his subject. He is Chair of the Board of Directors of Harcourt House Arts Centre, a position he has held for seven years. Edmund is a recipient of the Silver Alberta Centennial Medal given to him for contributions to the community through his involvements in the arts. A central, ongoing theme of Edmund’s work is a strong belief that there is wisdom in the ancients, in ancestors, elders and traditions, wisdom that is still relevant to us today. Edmund’s philosophical approach to his work is to find balance between the wisdom of the past, and the break neck pace of change we all live in.
