Terra Incognita: A Suite of Drawings

These drawings are based on imaginary life forms in a setting that evokes a landscape that is foreign, hence the title “Terra Incognita”, an unknown land.

Gloria Mok has always been interested in the diversity of biological systems, from human anatomy, microbiology to botany. She has attempted to alter those images and environments, which are familiar to a space that has an alien quality. The subjects in these works vary from organic forms to suggestions of man-made structures. The space that the subject inhabits is deliberately ambiguous in depth and locality, and enigmatic setting.
